Seven baptised as holistic outreach bears fruit

Seven people were baptised at the conclusion of the Niue for Christ evangelistic program, which combined health ministry, community engagement and gospel presentations in a holistic approach to mission.

South Pacific Division vice president Pastor Maveni Kaufononga, who served as one of the program presenters, said the initiative sought to meet both the physical and spiritual needs of the community.

Each day began with radio presentations on health and family life, providing practical and relevant information for the wider community while inviting listeners to the evening meetings, which featured healthy cooking demonstrations, presentations on natural remedies, health talks and Christ-centred sermons.

“This combination of practical health education and biblical teaching was well received and attracted consistent attendance throughout the program,” Pastor Kaufononga said.

One of the program’s highlights was the broad community participation. Church leaders from other denominations attended faithfully throughout the series alongside many members of the local community.

Refreshments were served after each meeting, creating opportunities for fellowship, conversation and questions. Pastor Kaufononga said the growing sense of connection became evident during the second week when many visitors voluntarily began contributing food and refreshments.

“It demonstrated a growing sense of ownership and community,” he said.

Pastor Kaufononga said the greatest blessing was seeing lives transformed through the work of the Holy Spirit.

“At the conclusion of the program, seven precious individuals publicly committed their lives to Jesus Christ through baptism,” he said. “We rejoice in these decisions and pray that the local church will continue to nurture these new believers and follow up the many interests that came out of the program.”

Pastor Kaufononga thanked the volunteers, church members, health professionals and supporters who contributed to the outreach.

“We give all glory to God for His leading throughout the Niue for Christ program,” he said. “We pray that the seeds planted during these meetings will continue to bear fruit for God’s kingdom in Niue.”
