Vanuatu churches walk alongside new believers after baptisms
September 27
Seventh-day Adventist churches across Vanuatu are continuing to support more than 1374 people who were baptised in August as they begin their new journey of faith.
Churches are using the “Faith of Jesus” Bible Study Guide to help new believers grow in their understanding of the Bible. Many churches are organising the new members into small groups so they can study together, build friendships and receive personal support.
Some church members and leaders are also travelling long distances to reach new believers in their villages and communities.
The nurturing resources are being provided by the Trans Pacific Union Mission. The first phase focuses on building friendships and helping new believers grow spiritually and understand more about the Bible.
“Churches recognise that becoming part of a new community of believers and leaving behind an old way of life can be challenging,” according to Vanuatu church leaders. “For this reason, the church plans to continue walking alongside the new believers. Future phases of the nurturing program will also focus on practical and physical needs that some new members may be facing.
“The goal is simple: the journey does not end at baptism. The church wants to continue walking with every new believer as they grow in their relationship with Jesus.”—Vanuatu Mission Facebook page
